A fairly complex adventure for its size, but also very interesting and fits well with the overall Season 1 Phlan storyline. DMing this and DDEX 1-7 and DDEX 1-2 gives a pretty clear explanation to the party of why Phlan's trade is in such dire straits and the realization that there are interests at work trying to isolate the city. Definitely recommend reading it thoroughly before running it and expect that it will take a couple of sessions to get through it properly.

Ran this twice, once in person and once online through Fantasy Grounds. Both parties of players really enjoyed the adventure, though it took about 7 hours from start to finish both times, even though the parties took somewhat different approaches. I would also say it doesn't scale down well to 1st level and maybe 2nd characters - it's balanced for 3rd and I'd say that's about right. A few 2nd level characters among others who are 3rd/4th is fine but lizardfolk are tough customers and the main villain at the end can be impressively dangerous! If you want to speed it up, I'd suggest speeding up the farm investigation and skipping the giant toads. Players really enjoyed thinking about the possible approaches to the central island and the final chaotic fight was very enjoyable in both sessions. I definitely recommend this.

This is a fantastic little dungeon crawl and a great continuation of the previous modules in this series in terms of the Valhingen Graveyard storyline.

There is also plenty of roleplay if the guide is played well by the DM and a very interesting encounter that could prove non-hostile depending on how the players handle it. Choices to be made throughout the dungeon and tons of very interesting rooms and flavor. It's clear the author did a lot of research into historical burial practices and was inventive in using them. It really makes each part of the dungeon rather unique.

There are two main paths the party can follow to the end, one much shorter than the other. In my opinion, the longer path is much more satisfying and the final encounter may not be very challenging at its default level if the party stumbles into it earlier rather than later, but the module also has guidance as usual for AL for increasing or decreasing the challenge of each encounter. Probably a 5-6 hour module if you are not trying to hurry and are more careful to enjoy all the flavor and story, but can certainly be run in 4 without changes, just with a bit more focus on urgency.

Highly recommended and fun.

A very good module with a lot of mystery and investigation, culminating in a memorable final battle.

However, it's almost impossible to run this within the expected time if you try to actually run the entire module. Within 6 hours, sure, but within 4 you will inevitably need to skip some otherwise interesting parts and hurry things along a lot for the type of adventure that it is. Skipping the wolf encounter and the investigation of the bones are probably two good places to start.

There's also a part of the "reveal" of what's been going on that for my group was just a bit too corny and Scooby Doo. For a more serious group, I'd consider modifying that and there are plenty of other reasonable explanations within what's already in the module and storyline. The island itself can be remarkably creepy with some great NPCs and I love the fact that there are many possible paths that can all result in some changes to how that final battle goes. The overall storyline is also quite cool, with the exception of the one element alluded to above.

My group did find the first part of the final battle a bit easy, but the secont part more than made up for that.

Recommended, with some modifications, especially for those with a tight time budget.

A really great module with a combination of challenges. Ideal for parties with at least one cleric or paladin due to the storyline and some of the clues. Some great opportunities for roleplay even while also offering a pretty consistent feeling of danger and some good combat. Also relatively quick to run and offers a mystery without much frustration.

In my opinion, better for parties that are at least 2nd level rather than 1st.

My group enjoyed this one a great deal. Would gladly run it again.

A great introductory module, both for Adventurer's League and D&D 5th Edition. The only one of the five mini-modules within that in my opinion needs a bit of modification is the fourth "A Shock at Evenfeast". Running this the first time, the initial setup just leaves a few too many open questions as to how the contact knows the item is here but knows nothing else about it, who has it, or why it may be dangerous. I recommend a change to that initial setup and giving the players plenty of chances to notice the possible "connections" that eventually solve the puzzle as for some groups it may otherwise get frustrating to figure out what could be going on once the lightning starts.

Loved it overall and recommend for a 1st level party running 1, 3 and 4, then 2 and 5 if you're looking to gradually increase the risk and challenge.

All five together allow many different character types and playstyles to play a role and cover all the AL factions nicely. I've run it twice and look forward to running it again.
