As a previous reviewer mentioned, this book provides some "evil" options for tiefling characters. While there are no alignment restrictions, there's undoubtedly a dark side to both the fluff and the crunch in this book. Not that that's a bad thing, but potential readers should be aware.
This sourcebook begins with an alternate background for tieflings than the one presented in the default D&D 4E setting. Tieflings aren't the result of an ancient curse from a long-gone empire, but are a race, created by the archdevils, that still carry the brands of their infernal benefactors. They reflect the particular benefactor who "owns" their soul.
There are helpful tables that list the infernal benefactors and their legacies; different features of tiefling horns, tail, eyes, and miscellaneous physical features; malisons; and attitudes and goals. Eight of the nineteen legacies are detailed, including a paragon path and feats. Feats at all three tiers of play are provided, available to tieflings of any legacy. Malisons, powerful powers granted by a feat that come with a consequence, are detailed, next. Finally, equipment and magic items with an infernal flavor are listed.
Overall, if you're looking for a new twist on the tiefling (or an old one, if you miss the more infernal tieflings of 3.x), want some alternate abilities that would tie your tiefling to a particular archdevil, or are looking for some ideas for a new villain in your campaign, I would recommend this sourcebook.
