Upload: Etherpunk is a supplement for the Etherscope RPG from Goodman Games. The zipped file is 14.26 megabytes in size, and contains two PDFs; a full version of the book, and a printer-friendly version. Both PDFs are ninety-eight pages long, including two pages for the front and back covers, a page for the credits/legal, two pages for the table of contents, a page for the OGL, and two pages of ads. Each PDF has a hyperlinked table of contents, as well as bookmarks. Oddly, the bookmarks for the tables in the book are listed before each individual section. Moreover, the bookmarks in my copy of the full version of the PDF didn?t work.

Both PDFs have full-color covers, and black-and-white interior artwork throughout. The only difference between the two, in terms of graphics, is that the full version has backgrounds that grey at the edges of the page, and have borders along the top, bottom, and alternating sides. While removing those helps the printer-friendly version, removing the covers and interior art from it might have helped more.

Upload: Etherpunk is divided into four overarching chapters. The first chapter is short, explaining the theme of etherpunk as it?s used in your Etherscope game, as well as what makes an etherpunk-style character.

Chapter two covers new character traits, specifically giving eleven new talent trees, nine new fighting styles, and twenty-six new feats for your Etherscope character. It also has a brief section on the values that many etherpunk characters are likely to have.

Chapter three deals with classes. It presents twenty-four new advanced classes and six new prestige classes specific to Etherscope.

The last chapter of the book deals with all kinds of new gear. It presents a variety of new weapons, armor, and general equipment before moving into esoteric items such as new vehicles and new cybernaughtics, many of which also have several upgrade possibilities listed.

Ultimately, Upload: Etherpunk does a good job of expanding the options for Etherscope characters. The plethora of new options here builds on those in the main rulebook enough to make almost anything possible. The only problems with the book are technical ones. The odd bookmark listings, the pictures in the printer-friendly version and a few other minor problems are sources of minor frustration. These are relatively easy to overlook, however, in light of the usefulness of the book?s content. Players looking to trick out their characters will be served well with Upload: Etherpunk.

LIKED: This book did a good job of offering many new classes, combat styles, vehicles, and other options to expand on what's possible in the world of Etherscope.

DISLIKED: The printer-friendly version should have removed the covers and interior art as well as backgrounds and borders. Also, the bookmarks for the tables in the book should have been listed last, not first.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Very Satisfied
